If you’re reading this blog, you’ve probably found it on Google by typing something like ‘free job advertising’ into the search bar and crossing your fingers. Well, the good news is we’re here to help you, even though we’re shooting ourselves in the foot for doing so!
The good news is, you can advertise a job for free, however, before you dive straight in and download our guide to advertising a job for free (which you can by clicking the button at the bottom of this blog), let’s make sure you’ve got everything you need to get started.
Have you written a job description?
We start here because to write a good job advert (our second point, below), you must first define the role. Start with listing the employee’s key duties and responsibilities. A bulleted list is fine at this stage.
Now write your advert
A job advert is different to a job description; the latter is just a boring list of responsibilities, whereas an advert should attempt to sell the opportunity to a job seeker and encourage them to apply for the position. Fortunately, we’ve written another imaginatively titled blog, How to write a job advert, which you can use as a reference point and also download for free.
Allocate time for the recruitment process
Recruiting is a time-sapping exercise however you go about it so, from the outset, it’s worth allocating time in your diary to get it done. Upfront you have to write your advert and find places to advertise it (more detail on that in the PDF), and at the backend of the process you’ll need to contact applicants, interview them, etc.
Okay, so now you’re actually ready to advertise a job for free, it’s time to download our free guide and get started. If, after reading it, it sounds like too much hard work, remember that writing adverts, posting jobs, searching for candidates, shortlisting applicants etc, is our bread and butter and our service really isn’t expensive if you calculate the cost of your time when doing it yourself – we’re here if you need help!
